There are a few new changes coming into effect from the 1st of January and I think that the new measures will be largely welcomed giving individuals a little bit more flexibility. The most recent Finance Bill proposes changes to AMRF drawdowns as of January. As it currently stands individuals were only allowed withdraw growth above the original investment amount. While this measure was ok when investment returns were positive it was however quite restrictive when negative returns were generated.

Individuals who have an AMRF from January will only be allowed to draw 4% of the value of the AMRF in each year even if the accumulated growth is greater than 4%. If you hold an AMRF you have until the end of the calendar year to withdraw any investment growth before the 4% maximum withdrawal limit takes effect.
