Not usually a post I would do but i decided being the day thats in it I would throw my picks down on paper;

Team USA:

Keegan Bradley: He was the bright spark in Medinah teaming with with Phil Mickelson the pair managed to go 3-0 against a resilient European team. He has showed he has the passion and has what it takes to secure valuable points, no doubt Tom Watson will have Keegan and Phil already down on the timesheet. this year Phil will be the anchor of the team so Bradley is a very likely partner. Although not on the top of his game a tied 16th finish in the Deutsche bank shows he is beginning to find some form.

Hunter Mahan: Hunter has plenty of experience under his belt having played two previous Ryder Cups. Know to be one of the best drivers of a golf ball in the game, his game is a sure fit with any of the other american players. Hunter has also found form at just the right time, Watson told the media that he was looking for ‘Players that were hot’ so his recent playoff win should have cemented his space on the team.

Bill Hass / Chris Kirk: Does Mr Watson go with consistency or stick to his guns looking for ‘Hot’ players. If he was looking for consistency its hard to look past, Haas, although this would be his first Ryder Cup he is a five time tour winner and has two successful Presidents Cups behind him. he fits the mould of a steady player but is this what Watson is looking for? On the other hand you have Chris Kirk, who clinched yesterdays FedEx Cup playoff fighting off world number 1 off in spectacular fashion.

Team Europe:

Stephen Gallagher: Although Gallagher fell a few shots short last week to make the automatic selection, his resilient efforts will not go unnoticed by Mc Ginley. Mc Ginley has told the media that he is looking for a player that shows the fighting spirit to make the team and I think Gallagher has done just that. Don’t forget Gallagher is a local man and surely this will also lend a hand to his selection. He has played his way into the team with an outstanding seven top ten finishes in Gleneagles in his last 12 appearances.

Ian Poulter: His record speaks for itself, (Played 15, Won 12) and we all know what this man is like come Ryder Cup irrespective of how his season has gone. poulter has done nothing at all this season since in 2nd place at the HSBC back in November. He has shown and proved to the world that he is capable of winning all his matches and it is no up to Mc Ginley to stand by him despite his terrible season. I think due to the fact that Luke Donald has been playing so poorly it makes the selection a lot easier for Mc Ginley and if Donald was in better form it would be a tough one to call. I personally think he brings a lot to the Ryder Cup and I would like to see him playing in a few weeks time.

Lee Westwood: lee is a Ryder Cup veteran having played 37 matches dating back to his debut in 1997. He has also struggled with his game this season and his only win came back in April in the Malaysian Open. His game has been up and down he has shown glimpses of his former self but he hasn’t managed to finish any big tournaments off in a clinical manor. As mentioned above if there was another strong offer on the table it would make Mc Ginleys decision that bit harder, however Colsaerts last years golden rookie has fallen by the wayside and Molinari has struggled to find form.

With all thats being said neither captains picks are easy and we will find out who will be teeing up in Gleneagles later on this afternoon. With four of the worlds top five players coming from team Europe and the other hailing from Australia its hard to look past the men in Blue.
